Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy in Scottsdale
Data supports that bioidentical hormone replacement therapy via pellet implants is the most effective method to deliver hormones to men. Implanted every 4-6 months under the skin in a simple procedure, the pellets consistently release small, physiologic doses of hormones providing optimal therapy when done in conjunction with the right supplements as determined by your provider. Bioidentical means that the molecular structure is the same as the hormones produced by the human body.
Feel The Difference
What are Pellets?
Pellets are made up of testosterone and are pressed or fused into very small solid cylinders. These pellets are larger than a grain of rice and smaller than a “Tic Tac”. In the United States, the majority of pellets are made by compounding pharmacists and delivered in sterile glass vials. Testosterone pellet production is highly FDA regulated and each pellet manufactured is tested for potency, sterility, and endotoxins to ensure patients are being provided with high-quality pellet therapy for men to help their hormone optimization
Where do they go?
The pellets are inserted into fatty tissue in the lower abdominal wall (otherwise known as “love handles”) via a small incision. This simple procedure is then taped and closed.
Why Pellets?
Pellets deliver consistent levels of hormones for 4-6 months in men. They avoid the fluctuations, or ups and downs, of hormone levels seen with every other method of delivery. Pellets do not increase the risk of blood clots and other untoward side effects like conventional or synthetic hormone replacement therapy.
What May Pellet Therapy Help Relieve?
Many conditions may be improved in men through pellet therapy, including andropause, low mood, anxiousness, low sex drive, decreased bone density, and heart health. Pellet therapy benefits for men may include the relief of symptoms caused by these conditions, as well as a return to hormonal balance.

Benefits of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)
In studies, when compared to conventional hormone replacement therapy, pellets have been shown to be superior for relief of menopausal and andropausal symptoms, maintenance of bone density, restoration of sleep patterns, and improvement in sex drive, libido, sexual response and performance.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pellet Therapy?
Pellets are a Bio-Identical form of hormone therapy that seeks to return the hormone balance to optimized levels in men.
How do I know if I’m a candidate for pellets?
Symptoms may vary widely from fatigue, lack of energy, depression, anxiety, night sweat, joint pain, sleeplessness, etc. We will begin with a Symptom Checklist and a set of comprehensive lab tests from a state-of-the-art lab facility. Dr. Aister will review your chart and determine whether you are a candidate for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy pellet insertion
Do I have blood work done before each treatment?
No, we conduct a comprehensive lab test prior to treatment and the only other lab test we will do in year one is the one-month follow-up lab test. The only exception to this is if there are significant changes to your weight, lifestyle, etc. We then do a lab test annually.
What are the pellets made from?
They are plant based (Wild Yams, etc.) The pellets are derived from yams and are bio-identical, meaning they are the exact replication of what the body makes in contrast to synthetic hormones.
How long will the treatment last?
For 4-6 months, depending on the person. Everyone is different so it depends on how you feel and what Dr. Aister determines is right for you. The absorption rate is based on cardiac output. Our comprehensive monthly plan includes all pellet insertions you may need.
Is the therapy FDA approved?
The ingredients in the pellets are all FDA approved. The distribution of the pellet is FDA regulated. The procedure is not FDA approved, based on individualized dosing. Everyday physicians prescribe off-label non-FDA approved products and therapies that they deem safe and effective for the patients. Compounded drugs are not FDA approved because they are individualized doses. There is no FDA approval on a bio‐identical drug.
Also, consider the side effects of drugs (half of the TV commercial is listing the potential side effects) and those drugs ARE FDA approved!
How are they administered?
Dr. Aister will implant the pellets into the fatty tissue in the lower abdominal wall (otherwise known as “love handles”) via a small incision No stitch is required.
Are there any side effects?
There are no serious side effects. Some possible nuisance side effects such as hair growth or acne in moderation are treatable with the correct clinical supervision”. Both are very treatable. Compare this to the side effects of many FDA-approved drugs where half of the TV commercial is listing the potentially deadly side effects!
